Everything you need to know about the 2025 Great St. Albans Challenge

Gather your family, friends or colleagues for a fun filled day in St. Albans City

Sunday 12th October

Registration: 1pm – 2pm at St Albans Cathedral
The event: Up to 2.5 hours to complete the GPS challenge
Event finish: 4.30pm
Closing presentation: at The Alban Arena until 5.30pm

The theme for this years challenge is SUPERHEROES!

Grab your smart phones, rally your sidekicks, and get ready to hero-navigate your way through a GPS treasure hunt full of twists, turns, and super surprises – capes and costumes highly encouraged!

Everything you need to know about the event

Who’s it for?

There’s something for everyone - families, friends, colleagues and its open to all ages and abilities. So assemble your team or family and get ready for a fun-filled afternoon round the beautiful city of St. Albans.

What do you have to do?

Using your smartphone on the day, there will be a range of fun questions, challenges, puzzles and things to find, photograph and video.

Make sure your phone is fully charged (iOS or android)!

This is a walking based event around the central area of St. Albans.

You can do as much or as little as you want to but if you do everything, it'll probably be a stroll of about 2-3 miles.

How many to a team?

Teams can be made up of up to 6 players each. Under 10’s can tag along with a team, and not count as a member.

At least one adult should accompany teams if any members are under 16 years of age.

What are the entry requirements?

Each team entry is just £60, only £10 per person, however if paid before August 15th then only £50 early price is on offer so sign up now.

How do I sign up?

Step 1. Register your team. Click on the link below to get started.

Step 2. Pay the entry fee. this is your way of supporting an amazing local charity.

Step 3. Receive instructions. Once registered you'll be sent an email with information confirming all the details you'll need.

How long will the day take?

Once the challenge begins, you’ll have around 2.5 hours to explore the city and complete fun tasks! It's a points-based game, not a race against the clock, so you can enjoy the game at your own pace.

Afterwards, join us at The Alban Arena for refreshments, a lighthearted finale with photos and videos, and the crowning of the Great St. Albans Challenge Champions.

To round off a day of fun, there will be trophies and prizes for the winning teams plus a few giveaways on the day too for those teams who excel and really get into the spirit of the day!

Everyone who takes part will also receive a special 'Great St. Albans Challenge' medal too!
